20G Side By Side Boxlock Ejector Shotgun from C. W. Andrews of London.
28” fixed choke barrels at a tight ¼ and ¾ restrictions. 2 ½” (65mm) English Game Chambers. All topped off with a Matt Finished Hand File Cut Concave rib out to a brass front sight bead.
The walls are in EXCELLENT condition with 50,000+ all over.
The Action has a superbly strong Cross Bolt Lock up and is finished with the makers name to each side. Fine Scroll Work Hand Engraving decoration with the base plate profusely done.
14 ¼” (363mm) pull Strong Straight Grained with some decent colour contrast along with a straight hand grip. Reasonably strong right hand which is somewhat surprising given the customer who brought it back is left handed. Overall the gun comes in at 44 1/8” (1120mm) and weighs in 5 Lbs 15 oz (2.7 Kg).
Given the barrels this IS a gun worth giving serious consideration to for a full and complete refurbishment. It is not often you find a London quality gun with metal work / walls in as pristine condition. Money put in to a gun like this is not going to be lost. All it will do is enhance the overall look, enjoyment in use and value. You SHOULD get every penny back and more. To my mind it is something I would put serious thought in to.
As said, a customer requested I organised this gun from another dealer. He collected and used it for under 12 months before lock downs etc. Previously he had purchased a Joseph Lang 12g and part exchanged that against this. As things turn out he realised he much preferred the Lang so came back and did a deal on that. From memory he actually paid circa £1800 for this gun from a dealer in London. I never did agree it was worth that but it IS well worth this.
