BROWNING B425 GRADE 5 OVER AND UNDER 12G SHOTGUN.

HIGHLY Decorative B425 Over and Under 12g Browning Shotgun in EXCELLENT condition throughout. Apparently purchased from a senior banker who lost his job (AHHH …. SHAME) about 15 years ago. He purchased brand new and both previous owners basically ‘sat’ on it. The man who brought it in to part-ex could never get away with it and missed most of the time. The gun did not fit and he was reluctant to get it altered. As such it did little more than simply sit tucked away in the darkness of his cabinet. Its only ‘escapes’ when taken out, wiped down and then admired for a while!

A shame really but NOW that CAN all change depending on YOU.

YES, YOU. (That ‘you’ COULD be aimed at a certain TALL Baker called Adam IF he reads this)!

Sporting 30” Fixed Choke Barrels detailed at *- and **- they actually measure to 1/4 on the lower and ¾ top. Both tight with a brass gauge so…. 7/16” (10mm) Sight Rib Cross Cut pattern to 1/3 each side and central in line to the centre. 2 ¾” (70mm) Chambers and NO Fleur de Lisle Steel Proof (PLEASE READ COMMENTS BELOW. Twin White Sighting Beads to check all lined up on target as it should be. Bright finished Action Completely and Profusely Engraved, Top, Bottom and Both Sides. Flighting Mallard Duck to the R/H, Retriever dog below and Lifting Pheasants to the Left. The rest covered in Acanthus Scroll EVERYWHERE.

Stock pull currently measures to a LONG 15 5/8” (384mm). With the adjustment on the trigger slide that can go circa 3/8” (10mm) plus or minus easily enough. I don’t think he realised it can be adjusted so easily. I DID point this out but he still wanted to deal so a SERIOUS OPPORTUNITY for someone else now. Overall length is JUST shy of 48” (1217mm) to the Leather Wrapped Recoil Pad and Scales tip at 7 Lbs 12 oz (3.517 kg).

Firstly check out what’s left of the Gold wash on the trigger blade. Its still showing a minimum of 70% plus. This NEVER lasts long once it gets used. It’s a CLEAR indication of just how little this gun has actually done so far. Considering it dates back to 1991 manufacture and now 30 plus years old I think I WILL put this down in my ‘Sleeper’ category. Then JUST LOOK AT THE THING! Its NOTHING below STUNNING. The Forend is as Pretty and the Stock and Grain, Pattern and Highlights match through from end to end. Rounded Prince of Wales Pistol Grip too so an unusual option for Browning. No tear drops though so an unusual thing for a Grade V / Grade 5 Browning.

Comment was passed by Browning it may have been re-stocked OR the tear drops removed. There is ZERO evidence of either so it’s a minor mystery. IF anything has been done its to the Absolute BENEFIT to the gun. Personally I DON’T think its anything other than 100% original. I have seen other High Grade older guns from Browning and Miroku with no drops so… I only pass comment because someone (no doubt) would ask so it saves time detailing now. Regardless, it IS, as detailed, an ABSOLUTE STUNNER. ANYONE would and SHOULD be MORE than happy. Pull this from its slip and just soak up the envious looks from all around.

Regardless of actual history NOTHING can detract from JUST HOW GOOD this gun looks. I’ve seen CUSTOM Grade Guns for £20K plus with nowhere even close as SERIOUSLY BONNY Woodwork. The first GENUINELY interested person to take a look and this gun will be away to their cabinet / collection. My suggestion is DO NOT hand around. Guns this nice never sit around long. When its gone its GONE and very likely never available for MANY many years.

As for the Lead Sh-t ‘FIASCO’? READ ON:

THERE ARE more and more None Toxic Shot alternatives being produced. WITH near matching performances to traditional lead and close to, if not matching pressures. Take a look at Horton Gunmakers for their own entry into this debacle of modern day shooting. IF its so lethally deadly to shooters and game eaters how is it every old lead water main supply pipe is not getting ripped out and replaced? To my mind it’s a DISGRACE that the shooting industry did not simply ask that one simple question. NO, they saw an excuse to charge a fortune and that mainly to the detriment of the quarry. Just my opinion …..for what its worth?

Anyway, take a look for yourself:

NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET.

YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!

On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons.                                                     RING for an update and keep checking the web site.
