Absolute CLASSIC English made 6.5 x 55 Swedish Sporting Bolt Action Rifle from Potter and Walker. The Calibre IS also Equally Classic and a GREAT SHAME it’s somewhat fallen off the ‘Radar’ for so many. Just do a little research and find some interesting FACTS out about just how effective this is.
A compact 19 3/4″ (500mm) Barrel set to a Stock Pull at 14″ dead (355mm). They bring in an overall length of 40 3/4″ (1035mm) tipping scales at just below 7 Lb 11 oz (3.48 Kg).
A double band detail to the start of the Barrel Chamber. The same to the Front Flange on the Bolt Cocking Head. It continues along the Bolt Handle as well as Matching detail to the Windage Adjustable Scope Mount Bases. Hopefully I will have matching plain rings readily available in stock too. Certainly standard 1″ tube options in varying heights.
The Gold Line Detail Continues to the Hinged Floor Plate and Trigger Guard. Serial Number as well as the Grip Cap. To Top it all a Delightfully Accurate Cartouche of a Superb Mature Master Roe Buck to the Hinged Floor Plate. Also featured in Solid Gold. A LOT of work and an equally high cost. Especially at today’s World prices.
The Rear of the Bolt is also fitted with a Low-Level Safety Lever. As such, NO need for an excessively high scope mount position. FULLY Jeweled / Engine Turned Bolt Shaft including the Full-Length Mauser Extraction Claw. Then, Back to yet more Gold. There is also an ‘S’ in view when the lever is lifted into the None-Fire position. Then yet more as the Barrel also sports the maker’s detail: POTTER & WALKER. EVESHAM. WORCS. along the top.
YES, it does show marks and light blemishes from use generally all over. With a Rifle as Pretty as this it IS testament as to previous owners. That they still took this out and obviously went stalking etc. is GREAT. Far too many TOP Quality guns like this spend the bulk, if not near all of the time locked away. There is nothing even remotely excessive. In fact, given when this will have been made (Circa 50 plus years ago). It’s actually in quite remarkable condition considering all of the above details.
