The barrel is stamped as PARKER HALE ‘SAFARI’ 7 X 57. I assume a relatively late example given the ‘SAFARI’ stamp detail. Not something I have ever seen on previoue rifles from this maker. Decent enough ‘OK’ condition and fully usable as it is. The rifle would look better with the original varnish finish stripping off the stock. Then refinishing with a good polyurethane or even a higher class oiled treatment. Buy it and have it threaded in house (at a reduced rate). We can always supply and fit a sound moderator to0. An great traditional English made sporting rifle ready for a full set up for today’s shooting world.
FINAL point is that this rifle is also one of the very rare to find DETACHABLE MAGAZINE versions. MUCH sought after being few and far between.
The 7 x 57 calibre is actually also called the .275 Rigby. Certainly better known here in the UK as this. Actually ‘adopted’ by John Rigby as his favourite calibre. Also sometimes referred to as the ‘ladies gun’ or ‘ladies calibre’. Given it has a very low felt recoil it is always going to appeal to a lot, especially women. Certainly when compared to most other full bore rifles. For a 7mm round they are a delight to use. I shoot one myself and have to agree with the man. I always found it to be a great round, accurate and ‘easy’ rifle to shoot.
