Description

HAMILTON OF MICHIGAN .22 RIM FIRE RIFLE.

The left side of the action is detailed as follows:

THE HAMILTON RIFLE No. 027 .22 Cal.

PATENTED OCT 30, 1900 – AUG 13 1907

MFD by C. J. HAMILTON & SON

PLYMOUTH, MICH, USA.

The gun is also on the records as Serial number 027. Unsure if it is actually a Model 027 but there we go! Nice Patination rather than rust throughout the metal work and steel butt plate. Looking through the bore it would likely benefit from a good brush, even a light polish.

This is not the rifle to buy for competition target shooting. That said it is probably still accurate enough for a reasonable range rabbit. Basic and original iron / open sights with the rear block having windage adjustment.

Simply pivot the small knob / handle down and the barrel hinges open to allow removal of the case or loading. Close the action and drop the knob to lock it back up ready to go. There is a safety on the hammer as it does have a ‘half cock’ position where the trigger is locked. It also strips into two by simply unscrewing the main hinge pin.

For such a little rifle this is one long advert!

Barrel is a menacing 14 7/8” (378mm) and the stock gives a 13 3/16” (335mm) pull to finish up at an overall length of 29 5/8” (753mm). Your hardly going to need a trolley with wheels on to drag this about either. It weighs in at a GRAND TOTAL of 2 Lbs 9 ½ oz (1.173Kg) so not THAT much more than a bag of sugar.

Looking on line, over in the US there is detail of one that sold at $400 with a second that went at auction where the hammer dropped at $225 but that had no iron sights left.

CERTAINLY (YET ANOTHER) RARE AND VERY COLLECTABLE .22 RIM FIRE RIFLE. I will be surprised if there many if ANY more here in the UK.
