AYA CORAL 12G OVER AND UNDER SHOTGUN.

12G ‘Coral’ Model Over and Under Boxlock Double Trigger Ejector from AYA. Yet ANOTHER I am happy to put into my ‘SLEEPER’ category. Those are the guns generally tucked away for many years I just LOVE to discover. Bring back to the public arena and hopefully give a new opportunity for the gun as well as new owner.

WORRIED ABOUT NONE TOXIC / STEEL SHOT?                        TAKE A LOOK AT THIS:

NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET.

YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!

On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons.                                                                                                                RING for an update and keep checking the web site.

BACK TO THE GUN:  …..

This has done all of next to nothing since new. YES, a double trigger but so what? Especially if you are like me and generally use a more traditional Side by Side. I can never seem to simply switch between a single and twin trigger. I always forget to drop back to the second when using my Side by Side. Then watch whatever depart as its out of range by the time the brain registers!

These guns are also BEAUTIFULLY made. Just take a look at one against just about anything readily available today. You do not need to be an expert. All you need is one eye and half a brain!

Superbly compact 26” (660mm) Fixed Choke Barrels. ¼ restriction to the bottom / front trigger and ½ to the top / right. PLEASE do not fall for the ‘longer barrels are better’ mentality or ‘experts’ comment. Shot will travel no further than the difference in barrel length. THAT IS pure and unarguable LAWS of physics. Its ALL just ‘fashion’ and marketing. I have zero doubt that before too long shorter, ‘faster’ handling guns will once again be in ‘vogue’. All the rage 30” and more will be the latest ‘joke’.

Anyone getting a light whiff of cynicism here?

Standard 2 ¾” (70mm) Chambers which ARE, in reality, more than enough for any clay or live quarry. If not its one of two things: You either missed or pulled the trigger on a target too far away.

Stock is an almost Straight, Straight Grained and a Straight hand grip with a pull of 14 ¼” (360mm). Including the ½” (12mm) Buffalo Horn (?) Butt Plate. 3 Piece Forend and hardly a mark anywhere with all Chequering still Very Clean and Sharp. What little there is will lift out with the steam off a brew up! This may well mount from either shoulder so detailing as Ambidextrous. Overall length measures to 42 5/8” (1083mm) and tips scales at a very light and compact 6 Lbs 10 ½ oz (3.015 Kg). An IDEAL gun for a full day of walked up shooting or anything else. Nice and compact for sitting in a hide too.

Bright finished Action with a Double Top Cross Bolt Lock up so Extremely Strong. Deep Hand Cut / finished Engraving depicting a Pointer Dog with flushed Pheasants to the left. Three rising Ducks to the right with both set into a natural habitat back drop. It even features cocking indicator pins. Specification finishes with a 5/16” (8-9mm) Ventilated Top Rib with Single Front Sight Bead and Automatic Safety.

I would NOT like to think what a gun made to these standards would cost new today. Certainly into 5 figures before the decimal.

If I EVER get around to finding time for more shotgun shooting THIS gun will find its way into my own cabinet. You are warned!
